April 26, 2025: Fans of the Final Destination franchise are in for a fresh, thrilling experience as the sixth installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines, is set to hit theaters on May 16. Director Zach Lipovsky teased a bold new direction for the iconic horror series, promising to shake up the usual formula fans have come to expect from the terrifying franchise.
In a recent interview, Lipovsky revealed that the film will deviate significantly from past movies by starting with a premonition set in 1969. This sequence, featuring a series of gruesome deaths, typically marks the opening of a Final Destination movie. However, the twist comes when the premonition shifts from one character’s perspective to someone in the modern day, providing an unexpected and disorienting change in the film’s narrative structure.

“For this film, the first premonition takes place in 1969. There are lots of deaths during the premonition, but we then come out of the eye of a different person in the modern day,” Lipovsky explained. “That’s new. For a lot of fans, I think that’s going to immediately throw them for a loop. It’s going to make them lean forward to try and figure out what’s going on.”
Co-director Adam Stein also discussed how the unpredictability of the film is key to keeping the audience engaged. “We switch up a lot of the predictability, including who’s going to die next and how they are going to die,” he said. “You might think it’s one person, but it’s not. There’s a delight in that.”
The recently released teaser trailer for Bloodlines gives fans a taste of the tension to come. The preview shows a tattoo artist who suffers a grisly fate—being hanged by his nose ring on a ceiling fan and burned alive, a gruesome death that promises to set the tone for the shocking and twisted fates that await the characters.
The film will take viewers back to the origins of Death’s twisted sense of justice. College student Stefanie, plagued by recurring nightmares, embarks on a journey to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise awaiting them all.
Final Destination: Bloodlines marks the sixth chapter in a franchise that began with the original 2000 film, which starred Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, and Tony Todd. The fifth film in the series was released in 2011, and now, Bloodlines promises to bring a new level of unpredictability and death-defying suspense to the beloved horror saga.
Fans of the series are sure to be on the edge of their seats as this new installment redefines the genre, keeping everyone guessing and shocked until the very end.
