January 27, 2025: Finn Wolfhard, known for his role as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, recently reflected on the emotional experience of wrapping up the final season of the hit Netflix series. The 20-year-old actor described the last day of shooting as “incredibly emotional,” marking the end of a decade-long journey for both the cast and crew.

Wolfhard compared the year-long shoot to the epic filmmaking style of The Lord of the Rings, noting how special it was to spend so much time on the series, which he called “a defining part” of his childhood. He said, “It was sort of the ‘Toy Story 3’ moment of leaving your toys behind,” highlighting the deep emotional connection the cast had developed with the show over the years.

As Stranger Things is wrapping up, Finn is now shifting focus to his upcoming film, The Legend of Ochi. The film, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, marks the directorial debut of Isaiah Saxon. It features an impressive blend of puppetry, animatronics, matte paintings, and 3D animation to tell the story of a shy farm girl named Yuri, who embarks on a quest to return a wounded baby animal species called ochi. The movie stars Helena Zengel, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe.

As for Stranger Things, the final season wrapped filming in December 2024. Co-creator Ross Duffer also shared his own emotional reflections on social media, expressing how the cast, many of whom joined as young children, became a family over the course of the series. He also praised the crew for their unwavering dedication and passion throughout the show’s run.
