FIR Filed Against Actor Vijay and 10 Others for Manhandling Crowd at TVK Rally

A local advocate has lodged a complaint against the actor-politician and others following an incident at a recent TVK rally in Madurai. The FIR alleges that the team manhandled the crowd and that Vijay made demeaning remarks against CM M.K. Stalin.

August 27, 2025: Vijay, who used to be an actor and is now a politician, and eleven other persons were accused of being impolite and hitting people during a recent rally in Thiruthuraipoondi, Tiruvarur district. On August 21, 2025, a lawyer from the area filed a complaint regarding something that happened during the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) state congress in Madurai.

The police said that the FIR was filed under a number of provisions of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita (BNS), including those that deal with crimes against justice and public safety.

C. Sivasagar, the lawyer who filed the complaint, said that the actor-politician’s comments about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin were “demeaning.” The lawsuit also states that Vijay and the others were rude to the public, and that Vijay’s bodyguards “literally threw” a party member off the runway.

The event took place at the TVK’s second state convention, which was a huge show of strength before the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026. Vijay, the head of the TVK, said at the ceremony that the next elections will be a direct fight between his party and the DMK, which is currently in charge. The All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) wasn’t particularly important because of this.

In February 2024, Vijay launched his own political party. Since then, he has said more about how he feels about the government and people have seen him in public more regularly. He wants TVK to play a big role in state politics.
