FIR Filed Against Farah Khan-This is the Reason
February 22, 2025: Bollywood choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan is at the center of controversy after a criminal complaint was lodged against her for allegedly insulting religious sentiments during an episode of Celebrity MasterChef. The FIR, filed by Vikash Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, accuses Khan of making derogatory remarks about the Hindu festival Holi, leading to demands for legal action.

The complaint was registered at Khar Police Station by Fhatak’s lawyer, Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, under sections 196, 299, 302, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to reports, Farah Khan allegedly referred to Holi as “a festival for the Chhapris”, a slang term that many consider derogatory and offensive. Hindustani Bhau claimed that this statement deeply hurt his religious sentiments and disrespected the Hindu community.

Advocate Deshmukh emphasized the gravity of the remarks, stating:
“The use of the term ‘Chhapris’ to describe a sacred festival is highly inappropriate and has the potential to cause communal tension.”
An excerpt from the complaint reads:
“My client states that the accused has not only hurt my personal religious sentiments but has also disturbed the Hindu community at large. This remark is an insult to Hindu traditions and should be addressed legally.”
Following the incident, Farah Khan has been heavily criticized and trolled on social media, with many users demanding an apology and boycotting her work.
While Farah Khan has yet to respond officially, the complaint has sparked debates over freedom of speech vs. religious sensitivity. With legal proceedings initiated, it remains to be seen how the case will unfold.
