London [UK], July 14: HBO and Warner Bros. have officially kicked off filming for their much-anticipated Harry Potter TV series, set for release in 2027, and unveiled the first image of young Harry Potter.

The image shows newcomer Dominic McLaughlin in full costume, complete with Hogwarts robes, round glasses, and the iconic lightning bolt scar, grinning as the Boy Who Lived. The announcement marks a major milestone for the series, which has been in development for years.

Joining McLaughlin are Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The three were selected from a nationwide casting call that saw over 30,000 young actors audition for the legendary roles.

In a joint statement, showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod said, “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.”

Fans immediately reacted to the first-look image with excitement. “So exciting—he looks just like Harry!!!” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another added, “They nailed the main character.”

Though relatively new to acting, McLaughlin is also set to star in the upcoming Sky film Grow, alongside Golda Rosheuvel and Nick Frost—who will also portray Hagrid in the Harry Potter series.

With production now underway, the Harry Potter reboot is expected to offer a faithful, season-by-season adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s original book series, bringing the magic to a new generation of viewers.
