Four Films, One Legacy: Sony Unveils Ambitious Beatles Biopic Series for 2028 Release
Washington [US], April 1: In a groundbreaking reveal at CinemaCon, Sony Pictures and acclaimed director Sam Mendes have officially announced the cast and release timeline for their highly anticipated Beatles biopic project — a cinematic first-of-its-kind four-film saga, with each film dedicated to one of the legendary musicians of the Fab Four.
Scheduled for a simultaneous theatrical release in April 2028, the ambitious project will chronicle the individual stories of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, offering fans a deep dive into their lives beyond the stage.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Mendes said,
“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles — we’re making four. Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
This all-British ensemble, led by Mendes and produced under Neal Street Productions, is set to bring new depth and energy to the legacy of the most influential band in music history.
Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman praised the project as a “binge-worthy theatrical experience,” a concept never before attempted on the big screen.
The cast joined Mendes on stage in a dramatic moment, reciting lyrics from the Beatles’ timeless anthem, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” further fueling fan anticipation and setting the tone for what promises to be a pop-culture phenomenon.
The event unfolded at CinemaCon 2025, Hollywood’s premier exhibition trade show, where studios preview upcoming tentpole releases for theater owners and industry professionals.
