December 14, 2024: The Raj Kapoor centenary celebrations in Mumbai were a star-studded affair, marking 100 years of the legendary filmmaker’s extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema. Hosted at a film festival, the Kapoor family, one of the most iconic dynasties in Bollywood, gathered to honor the memory of their patriarch.

Key members of the Kapoor family—Randhir Kapoor, Rima Jain, Babita, Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni—attended the event, showcasing their pride in preserving and celebrating Raj Kapoor’s legacy.

Ranbir Kapoor, attending the festival’s opening with his wife, Alia Bhatt, paid homage to his grandfather by sporting a black bandhgala suit and a moustache reminiscent of Raj Kapoor’s iconic look. Alia, on the other hand, stunned in a white floral-print saree.

Kareena Kapoor, who arrived with her husband Saif Ali Khan, wore an elegant ethnic suit, while Karisma Kapoor dazzled in a beautiful saree.

Karisma shared a heartwarming photo with her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, before attending the event, captioning it with, “Most Precious 💖 #RajKapoor100.”

The festival also saw the presence of Aadar Jain and Navya Nanda, along with veteran actor Prem Chopra and his son-in-law Sharman Joshi. The event is part of a larger initiative led by R.K. Films, the Film Heritage Foundation, and the National Film Archive of India (NFDC), showcasing ten of Raj Kapoor’s iconic films across 40 cities, including Awaara, Shree 420, Mera Naam Joker, and Bobby.

Adding a special touch to the celebrations, members of the Kapoor family had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi prior to the festival. In the meeting, the Prime Minister was invited to join the festivities, and Kareena Kapoor shared charming photos from the interaction. One of the highlights was when PM Modi graciously wrote an autograph for her sons, Taimur and Jeh, which delighted fans on social media. Kareena expressed her gratitude for the warm gesture, acknowledging the Prime Minister’s support in commemorating Raj Kapoor’s monumental legacy.

The festival, which began on December 13, will run until December 15, offering a beautiful opportunity for fans to experience the magic of Raj Kapoor’s cinema and celebrate his lasting impact on the Indian film industry.
