
January 11, 2025: New Delhi: Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s much-awaited political thriller Game Changer premiered on January 10, setting the box office on fire with a remarkable ₹51.25 crore net collection on its opening day in India. Directed by S. Shankar, the film has been touted as one of the most ambitious political dramas in Indian cinema, blending grandeur, high-octane action, and emotional depth.
According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, Game Changer made ₹42 crore net in Telugu screenings, ₹7 crore net in Hindi, ₹2.1 crore in Tamil, ₹10 lakh in Kannada, and ₹5 lakh in Malayalam. Produced under Sri Venkateswara Creations by Dil Raju, the film received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and boasts a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes.
The star-studded cast includes S.J. Suryah, Nassar, Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, and Murali Sharma, with Ram Charan and Kiara Advani leading the narrative. Pre-release buzz translated into strong ticket sales, with 13 lakh tickets sold on the BookMyShow app alone.
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel gave the movie a glowing 4-star review, calling it a “visual spectacle” that marks the “vintage brilliance” of director Shankar. “The grandeur, scale, and direction by Shankar remind us why he’s one of the best in the industry,” Kadel wrote on social media.
Praising Ram Charan’s dual role, Kadel described it as the actor’s career-best performance since Rangasthalam. The movie’s powerful background score by Thaman and its captivating screenplay have also been widely appreciated. The first half was noted for setting the stage, while the second half delivered engaging twists and a thrilling conclusion.
Fans have praised Game Changer for its larger-than-life visuals, gripping narrative, and powerful performances. Many noted that Shankar’s signature style is evident in the grandeur of the film, solidifying his reputation as one of India’s most ambitious filmmakers.
