Gauahar Khan on TV Debut with Fauji 2: 'A Tribute to Shah Rukh Khan’s Legacy'
Renowned for her reality TV appearances, Gauahar Khan has officially ventured into fiction television with Fauji 2. The show is a spiritual sequel to Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic 1989 series Fauji and marks Gauahar’s debut in a television drama.
Speaking about the milestone, Gauahar shared her excitement about being part of a show with such a legendary connection. “For me to act on television, it had to feel meaningful. I didn’t want it to look like I’m taking acting lightly or doing it just for money. Fauji 2 gave me the role I was looking for—a chance to truly perform and bring a character to life. Every scene I shoot feels significant and is crafted with care,” she explained.
Making her debut on Doordarshan holds a nostalgic value for Gauahar, taking her back to her childhood days. “Doordarshan defined entertainment for me as a child, with shows like Chitrahaar, Fauji, Malgudi Days, and Mungeri Lal ke Sunehre Sapne. It feels like living a childhood dream to now be part of the channel’s legacy,” she said.
While some consider Doordarshan outdated, Gauahar believes the network is making a strong comeback. “DD is planning big things, and they’ve always been about meaningful content. Their expansion into OTT is going to attract a new wave of audiences,” she added.
Being associated with Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy is both an honor and a challenge for Gauahar. “The pressure is immense, but when my name was mentioned alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s in the initial buzz, it felt like a huge achievement. I haven’t worked with him yet, but I hope to. Just knowing that my name is being spoken in the same sentence as his is a big deal for me,” she admitted.
Gauahar also expressed her hopes of receiving feedback from the Bollywood superstar himself. “I wish that after seeing Fauji 2, Shah Rukh Khan feels my performance is worthy. If he calls or praises me, that will be my true victory. I believe that moment will come because we’re creating something heartfelt, genuine, and inspirational,” she said.
Before wrapping up, Gauahar teased her upcoming projects, revealing that she’s currently working on two shows. One of them is with Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta’s production house, and she’s especially proud of her role in it. “This character is one of my favorites. I’m confident people will call me with compliments after watching this show,” she concluded.
Fauji 2 is now airing on Doordarshan, and it promises to take audiences on a journey of inspiration and nostalgia.
