George Clooney Announces Director Jon Watts’ Absence from ‘Wolfs’ Premiere

Actor and filmmaker George Clooney shared disappointing news during the first press conference for Apple’s highly anticipated action comedy Wolfs at the Venice Film Festival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney revealed that the film’s director, Jon Watts, would be missing the movie’s international premiere in Italy due to contracting Covid-19.

Seated alongside his co-star Brad Pitt, Clooney conveyed the news with a resigned expression, stating, “He traveled all the way here, and then caught Covid,” shaking his head in frustration. With Watts absent from the press conference, Pitt and Clooney took the lead in discussing the film on his behalf.

Wolfs stars Pitt and Clooney as professional fixers hired to cover up the same high-profile crime, forcing these two “lone wolves” to work together. Their night soon spirals out of control in ways neither could have anticipated, setting the stage for a thrilling and comedic adventure.

Jon Watts, best known for directing the latest Spider-Man trilogy for Sony, has earned global recognition for his work, particularly with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which shattered box office records and grossed an impressive $1.9 billion worldwide.

Wolfs, produced by Clooney’s Smokehouse and Pitt’s Plan B, features an ensemble cast including Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, Poorna Jagannathan, Richard Kind, and Zlatko Buric. The film is produced by Watts and McGunigle, alongside Clooney, Grant Heslov, Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, with Michael Beugg serving as executive producer.

Despite the setback, the excitement surrounding Wolfs remains high as the film gears up for its international debut, with fans eager to see Clooney and Pitt reunite on screen in this action-packed comedy.
