Ranveer Singh’s action saga is officially becoming a two-part thriller, with the sequel hitting theatres just four months after the first film’s release.
December 5, 2025: Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar have launched an action franchise with the release of Dhurandhar today, December 5. The film, which has received strong early praise, confirms a swift return to the big screen with its sequel, Dhurandhar 2, scheduled to hit theaters just four months later.

The news of the sequel’s release date—March 19, 2026—was officially unveiled via a special four-minute post-credit scene included at the end of the first installment. This extended sequence serves as a major narrative bridge, setting up the plot and action for the second part.
The Plot: From Hijacking to Underworld
Dhurandhar is a spy-action thriller written and directed by Aditya Dhar, featuring an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
The official plot synopsis, revealed by the CBFC, details a high-stakes espionage mission:
Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal [R. Madhavan], who crafts a daring mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. To execute this operation, Sanyal recruits an unlikely asset – a 20-year-old boy from Punjab [Ranveer Singh], held captive for committing a revenge-driven crime. Sanyal decides to mould him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi’s ruthless underworld mafia.
Part 2 Already Shot
The ambitious scope of the story, which resulted in Part 1 having a massive runtime of over three hours, necessitated splitting the project into two parts.
Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi, who is part of the cast, had previously confirmed that the sequel was already in the can. “In Dhurandhar Part 1, I will be seen a little less, but I will be seen more in the second part… My character is very endearing and menacing,” he stated, indicating that Part 2 is largely shot and in the post-production phase.
The immediate scheduling of the sequel for the Eid festive period in 2026 shows the confidence of the makers, Jio Studios and B62 Studios, in launching a successful new action franchise.
