August 21, 2025: Glen Powell, a Hollywood actor who has been doing well lately, has put an end to rumors that he will be the next James Bond. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said that “a Texan should not play James Bond” and that the role of the famous spy should go to a “authentic Brit.”
Powell, who is known for his roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, said that he and his family laugh about the prospect. He joked that he might play “Jimmy Bond,” but not the famed secret agent.

The actor’s words come at a time when everyone is looking for the next 007. The casting of the next James Bond movie, the 26th in the series, has become a big topic of conversation now that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is officially in charge. This will be the first movie made by Amazon MGM Studios since they bought MGM in 2022.
Even though Powell isn’t on the list anymore, the rumor mill is still buzzing with possible candidates. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Callum Turner, Theo James, and even Scott Rose-Marsh, who is fresh to the scene and has supposedly screen-tested for the part, are all in the running.
As the James Bond series goes on, Powell is working on a lot of different projects at the same time. He will be in the sports comedy series Chad Powers, which starts on Hulu on September 30, and the remake of The Running Man that Edgar Wright is directing.
