Govt Bans 25 Apps & Websites Including Ullu & ALTT Over Obscene Content
July 25, 2025: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has ordered that 24 apps and websites be blocked across India including Ullu & ALTT Balaji. This is a huge move to halt the proliferation of unlawful content on the internet. Some of these sites are known for showing rude, sexual, and foul-mouthed content, and some even advocate “soft porn.”
The MIB told all of the country’s Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to stop letting people access these sites. The step is part of a larger effort to observe Indian laws and uphold digital ethics.
There are some programs and websites that are not allowed, such as:
The Kangan App
Bull App
Jalva App

The first text didn’t include a full list of the 24 names, but it did state that the apps listed above were part of the ban.
This critical step is backed by a number of Indian legislation. Sections 67 and 67A of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, talk about sending or posting sexually explicit or obscene material online. Also, section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) talks with obscene songs and actions. This provision supplanted the earlier Indian Penal Code section. The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, makes it against the law to show women in a bad light in commercials, magazines, and other types of media.
The MIB has also directed the Director (DS-II) at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to make sure that ISPs work together to stop people from using these platforms in India. This measure shows that the government is serious about making the online world safer and more compliant.
