Grammy-Nominated Rapper Rod Wave Arrested in Atlanta on Weapon and Drug Charges
Rapper Rod Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was arrested on weapon and drug charges in Atlanta on November 7, the very same day he received his maiden Grammy Award nomination.
Green was booked into the Fulton County jail on suspicion of:
The rapper was released from jail on November 9 after posting an $8,000 bond.
The arrest abruptly followed a career high for the artist. Rod Wave was nominated for his first Grammy Award for his song “Sinners,” which appeared on the soundtrack for the 2025 film of the same name.
Rod Wave’s legal team, in a statement, called the arrest “unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta.” They claimed that the arresting officer belonged to the Atlanta Police Department’s controversial Crime Suppression Unit.
The lawyers criticized the unit for its “aggressive tactics” and “quota-driven approach,” stating:
“Mr Green was targeted as part of this quota-driven approach, a practice that undermines justice and erodes community trust… We look forward to vigorously challenging this baseless arrest and the clear violations of his rights in court.”
This is not the rapper’s first recent legal issue in the Atlanta area.
