The reality star travelled to Paris to testify in the case involving masked thieves who disguised themselves as police and made off with precious jewels.
May 24, 2025 | Paris – Nearly a decade after one of the most high-profile jewelry heists in modern memory, a French court has convicted eight of the 10 accused in the 2016 armed robbery that saw Kim Kardashian West tied up and robbed of her $4 million engagement ring.

The masked robbers, posing as police officers, stormed the luxury Paris apartment where Kardashian was staying, bound her at gunpoint, and fled with jewels gifted by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West (Ye), and other valuables.
Verdict and Sentences
On Friday, a panel of judges and jurors found eight of the 10 defendants guilty of direct involvement in the heist. Another defendant was convicted on illegal weapons charges, while one was acquitted.
The mastermind, 69-year-old Aomar Ait Khedache, received the heaviest sentence of three years in jail. The rest of the convicted robbers also received jail terms.
Dubbed the “grandpa robbers” by the French media due to their ages, the group’s theft was the biggest jewel heist in France in over two decades.
Kardashian’s Emotional Testimony
Earlier this month, Kardashian returned to Paris to testify. She told the court she feared for her life during the ordeal. In a statement after the verdict, she expressed relief and acceptance of the court’s ruling.
“I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case. The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” she said.
Kardashian also said she forgave Khedache, who had expressed remorse in a letter read to the court.
“While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all,” she added.
A Heist That Made Headlines
The 2016 robbery stunned fans and security experts alike. At the time, it was seen as a dramatic sign of how even the most famous and well-guarded can fall prey to meticulous, determined thieves.
