Kareena Kapoor Khan has expressed her excitement and congratulations to the team of Laapataa Ladies for their selection as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2025.
In her Instagram Story, she shared the film’s poster and wrote, “Great stories deserve great recognition. Congratulations @roadyness @aamirkhanproductions. So happy for you guysss @pratibha_ranta @nitanshigoelofficial @shrivastavasparsh @ravikishann.”
Karisma Kapoor also joined in the celebration, posting her congratulations on her Instagram Story with the message “Kiran,” accompanied by clapping, heart, and smiley emojis.
Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Kindling Pictures, and Jio Studios, Laapataa Ladies was released in theaters on March 1, 2024. The film features a talented cast including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam.
Kiran Rao expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I am very happy. I was not expecting an Oscar entry as many good films have been made this year. Now we will have a chance to show this film to a much larger audience.” She highlighted the film’s focus on women’s issues and aspirations, saying, “When such a film becomes the country’s official entry to the Oscars, it is very encouraging.”
Kiran acknowledged the challenges ahead in the Oscar journey but remained optimistic: “The journey to the Oscars is not going to be easy, but we will give it all.” She thanked her team for their hard work over the 4-5 years it took to make the film and expressed hope that it would resonate with audiences around the world.
