Gurmeet Choudhary Urges Bollywood to Support Rajpal Yadav
Industry voices rally after actor’s Tihar Jail surrender in cheque bounce case
February 10, 2026: The Bollywood fraternity has rallied around Rajpal Yadav after the actor surrendered at Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a long-running cheque bounce case. His emotional admission of financial distress has triggered widespread concern within the industry. Actor Gurmeet Choudhary has now publicly appealed to fellow artistes and filmmakers to come together and support Rajpal during what he described as one of the most painful phases of his life.
Taking to X on February 10, Gurmeet expressed heartbreak over Rajpal’s situation, calling him a senior and immensely talented artist who has given audiences years of laughter and joy. “Today, he needs us,” Gurmeet wrote, adding that he was personally stepping forward to help in any way possible. Urging producers, directors, and industry members to act with compassion, he said the film industry is a family and should not abandon one of its own in times of crisis.
Gurmeet’s appeal followed actor Sonu Sood’s announcement that Rajpal Yadav would be part of his upcoming film and receive a signing amount to ease his financial burden. Rajpal surrendered on February 6 after the Delhi High Court refused further relief in multiple cheque bounce cases filed by Murali Projects Pvt Ltd. Convicted in 2018 and sentenced to six months in jail, Rajpal had earlier been advised to explore a settlement, but with no extended relief, he was forced to report to prison, reportedly admitting he was facing severe financial hardship and isolation.
