March 19, 2025: In a recent interview, actress Gwyneth Paltrow shared her perspective on working with an intimacy coordinator during the filming of her upcoming movie Marty Supreme, in which she stars alongside Timothée Chalamet. The actress revealed that while the intimacy coordinator approached her to discuss a physical scene in the film, she felt it was unnecessary given her experience in the industry.
“I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on,'” Paltrow recalled, highlighting how she and her co-star Chalamet felt comfortable with the scenes and told the coordinator to “step a little bit back.”

Paltrow expressed concerns about how intimacy coordinators could potentially limit the artistic freedom of actors. “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but… if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here’… I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that,” she said. The actress emphasized that while intimacy coordinators are an important tool for ensuring safety, she felt that they could hinder creativity, particularly for seasoned actors.

She also praised Timothée Chalamet, calling him “such a thinking man’s sex symbol” and describing him as “a very polite, properly raised… man who takes his work really seriously and is a fun partner.” Paltrow also shared that Chalamet made filming a pleasurable and professional experience.
Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, is a biographical film inspired by the life of Marty Reisman, a famous ping-pong player. The movie is set to be released in theaters on December 25, 2025, and will feature a star-studded ensemble cast, including Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A’zion, Penn Jillette, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
