Hailee Steinfeld on Returning as Gwen Stacy in ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’: “You’ve Gotta Trust the Process”

The actress confirms she’s recorded for the upcoming 2027 film, reflects on voice role evolution, and reacts to her absence from the Avengers: Doomsday lineup

Washington [US], April 19: Actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld has confirmed her return as Gwen Stacy in the much-anticipated animated film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, set to hit theaters on June 4, 2027.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz, as reported by Deadline, Steinfeld revealed that she has already recorded portions of her dialogue for the film, despite Marvel’s usual secrecy.

“We’re well into that thing,” Steinfeld said, careful not to reveal too much. “You’ve gotta trust the process. If there’s one thing I’ve learned with that — it’s that. You put it in their hands and you’re gonna end up with something masterful.”

Steinfeld first voiced Gwen Stacy in the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and reprised the role in Across the Spider-Verse (2023). Her return in the trilogy’s final installment continues her acclaimed run as one of the Spider-Verse’s standout characters.

Asked about her future in live-action Marvel projects, especially given her notable absence from the recent Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, Steinfeld responded:

“I sure hope not,” hinting at her eagerness to return to the MCU in a physical role.

Despite Marvel teasing more names to be added to Doomsday, Steinfeld’s absence sparked speculation, especially after her performance as Kate Bishop in Disney+’s Hawkeye. When asked why she wasn’t confirmed among stars like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Florence Pugh (Yelena), she gracefully dodged spoilers, saying,

“I can’t say anything just yet.”

As fans await her animated return in 2027, many are also hopeful that Steinfeld’s live-action Marvel arc isn’t over — and that the MCU’s next phase still has room for Kate Bishop.
