Halle Berry Praises Chris Hemsworth as “A Stand-Up Guy” for Defending Her On Set
Las Vegas, April 6: Hollywood stars Halle Berry and Chris Hemsworth lit up the red carpet at CinemaCon 2025 while promoting their upcoming heist thriller Crime 101. But behind the glamour, Berry shared a heartfelt moment that cemented her admiration for her co-star — a moment when Hemsworth stood up for her on set.
“He’s a stand-up guy,” Berry told E! News. “I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie, and instantly I knew I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman. He didn’t have to do it, and he did it.”
Berry didn’t elaborate on the incident, but her emotion made clear the depth of gratitude she felt toward the Thor star.
Hemsworth, for his part, has spoken of being intimidated to work alongside Berry, saying:
“I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years. I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.”
Crime 101, directed by Bart Layton and based on Don Winslow’s bestselling novella, follows Hemsworth as a seasoned jewel thief and Berry as an insurance investigator hot on his trail. The film was originally slated to star Pedro Pascal, who exited due to scheduling conflicts, paving the way for Hemsworth to take on the lead role.
Joining the stellar cast are Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Monica Barbaro. The title refers to the unwritten rules of pulling off the perfect heist — but in this story, it’s clear that integrity matters just as much as execution.
Crime 101 is shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated thrillers, both for its gripping plot and the palpable chemistry between two actors who clearly have mutual admiration and respect.
