Halle Berry Reacts to X-Men Franchise's Fake Script Scandal
Halle Berry has spoken out against the “shady practices” in Hollywood after director Matthew Vaughn made recent claims regarding deceptive tactics used during the production of X-Men 3. In a resurfaced interview from last year’s New York Comic Con, Vaughn alleged that a fake script was created to lure Berry into signing on for the 2006 film, a revelation that has sparked fresh discussions about the darker side of Hollywood.
In the interview, reported by Deadline, Vaughn shared that he left the production of X-Men 3 because of these misleading tactics. “One of the main reasons I quit X-Men 3 is because Hollywood is really political and odd,” Vaughn stated. He claimed that the phony script was presented to Berry, who played Storm in the franchise, to secure her involvement in the project.
Reacting to these allegations, Berry took to Instagram to express her surprise and gratitude towards Vaughn for shedding light on the issue. She wrote, “Ya just never know the shady s*** going on behind ya back! Thank you, Matthew Vaughn, for bringing the dark to light.”
Berry first portrayed Storm in the original X-Men film in 2000, and reprised her role in subsequent sequels, including the controversial X-Men 3. Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, the movie was a commercial success, grossing over $460 million globally.
The controversy highlights the often complex and politically charged environment of Hollywood, where behind-the-scenes decisions can greatly impact the working conditions of actors and filmmakers. Vaughn, who stepped away from the project and was replaced by Brett Ratner, has been vocal about the difficulties posed by such unethical practices in the industry.
Berry’s response underscores the need for more transparency in Hollywood, echoing the concerns of many other industry insiders who have voiced similar frustrations about deceptive practices in film production.
