Halle Berry Shuts Down Hopes of Storm Return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Despite growing fan speculation and hopes, Halle Berry has confirmed she won’t be reprising her iconic role as Storm in Marvel’s highly anticipated 2026 release, Avengers: Doomsday.
Speaking with Black Girl Nerds during an appearance at CinemaCon, Berry addressed the rumors head-on. When asked whether fans might spot her name among the ensemble cast announced for the film, Berry replied bluntly: “Keep waiting. It’s not going to be there.”
Berry’s candid response comes after Marvel revealed a nostalgic lineup of original X-Men actors joining the Doomsday cast, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer. However, Berry — who portrayed Storm in four X-Men films between 2000 and 2014 — is notably missing from the list.
Although Marvel has teased further cast reveals, Berry’s latest comments suggest her chapter in the MCU might have already closed. Last year, she revealed to ComicBook.com that she was never approached to return for Deadpool & Wolverine, despite expressing interest — even recounting how Blake Lively once asked her if she’d be open to joining her husband Ryan Reynolds’ film. “I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me,” Berry recalled.
She’s not the only fan-favorite left out of the Doomsday spotlight. Actor Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, also didn’t appear on the cast list, though he joked to Collider: “They must have cut away from it. I don’t know what happened.”
Despite the missing names, Avengers: Doomsday is already generating buzz as one of Marvel’s biggest crossover projects yet. The film is currently in production and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
