Halle Berry Teases Catwoman Return: “Maybe, if I Could Direct It”

Halle Berry, the iconic actress who portrayed Catwoman in the 2004 film, has recently sparked excitement among fans with the possibility of reprising her role as the feline superhero. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Berry hinted at a potential return to the character—but with a unique twist.

When Fallon asked Berry about the chance of her stepping back into the Catwoman suit, she playfully responded, “Maybe, if I could direct it.” This intriguing comment has fueled speculation and anticipation among fans who would love to see Berry not only act but also direct a new take on the character.

Reflecting on the 20th anniversary of Catwoman, Berry shared her affection for the film, despite its initial lukewarm reception. “I loved it,” she confessed, acknowledging that the film was met with heavy criticism at the time. However, she finds comfort in the film’s newfound popularity among younger audiences. “What I’m happy about is… the children have found it now on the internet,” she noted. “The kids love it. So it’s so vindicating because now they’re saying, ‘It’s cool,’ and ‘What the heck was everybody’s problem with it?'”

Catwoman, directed by Pitof and written by John Rogers, John Brancato, and Michael Ferris, featured a star-studded cast including Benjamin Bratt, Frances Conroy, and Sharon Stone. Despite its impressive $100 million budget, the film grossed $82.4 million globally and received harsh criticism, earning multiple Razzie Awards in 2005, including Worst Picture and Worst Director. Notably, Berry received the Razzie for Worst Actress but attended the ceremony with a sense of humor to accept the award.

Berry’s comments have reignited discussions about Catwoman and left fans eagerly wondering if she might indeed return to the role—but this time, with her creative vision at the helm.
