Halsey Opens Up About Health Struggles and New Album’s Potential Finality

Halsey has shared deeply personal insights into her health struggles and the creative process behind her forthcoming album, hinting that it might be her last. The singer recently made headlines with her song The End, which reflects the health challenges she has faced since 2022, including a diagnosis of Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

In a heartfelt Instagram update, Halsey revealed the extent of her health issues and the impact they’ve had on her life. “I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both conditions are currently managed or in remission,” she explained. “After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.”

Despite these challenges, Halsey’s passion for music remains strong. She recently teased her new album on X, revealing her uncertainty about the project’s future. “When I started writing it, I thought it might be the last album I ever got the chance to make,” she admitted. “So I tried to do whatever I’d been wanting to do, but hadn’t tried yet…”

In another post, Halsey shared the inspiration behind her forthcoming LP. “I wrote a lot about what I was going through. I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone, though it was mostly my choice to not,” she wrote, referencing her diagnoses. “But the weight of it all and looking at my life wondering if I was happy with who I was. While simultaneously changing against my will. More on that later lol.”

Halsey has been keeping fans updated on her journey, with her fifth studio album set to arrive over three years after 2021’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. She also announced that her next single, Lucky, will be released on July 26.

Reflecting on her experience, Halsey noted her complex feelings about sharing personal details with her audience. “I tried to take a break for some privacy. And then I got sick,” she shared. “And the break lasted 2 years longer than I had wanted/intended. I was just desperate to do the thing I love again. It’s different now. But I still love it and have so much gratitude.”
