Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan Face Backlash From Netizens For Remarks On India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’

May 7, 2025: Pakistani actors Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan are facing severe criticism and trolling from NRI netizens after condemning Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians — mostly tourists — shocked the nation as victims were reportedly asked their religion before being brutally shot.

On May 7, in retaliation, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror hideouts, four located in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), under what has been termed Operation Sindoor. The operation has been widely praised within India and by many international observers for its decisive action against terror infrastructure.

However, criticism erupted after Hania Aamir and Mahira Khan posted messages condemning Operation Sindoor on their social media platforms. While their posts were not visible to Indian users due to the blocking of Pakistani celebrity accounts following the Pahalgam attack, screenshots surfaced on Twitter, shared by non-resident Indians (NRIs), sparking a wave of outrage.

The actresses reportedly described the operation as “cowardly,” prompting a wave of furious responses.

One widely shared tweet read,
“I’d like Mahira Khan to answer this since you broke your silence about Operation Sindoor. Where were you when those terrorists killed our people just because they weren’t Muslim? Allah tumhari nahi, hamari raksha kare tum jaison se.”

Another NRI user posted,
“Wow, Hania Aamir and her low IQ fan brigade really thought they could waltz into Bollywood while their country harbors terrorists? Operation Sindoor just gave them a reality check—India isn’t your playground, darling!”

The backlash included sharp rebukes against the idea of cross-border stardom, with many questioning why Pakistani celebrities should expect space in Indian cinema while criticizing Indian defense actions. Others used the moment to reaffirm support for the Indian military, invoking patriotism and anger over the terror attack.

Several Indian netizens expressed relief that Pakistani accounts had been restricted, with one user remarking,
“Hania Aamir is calling the Indian Army coward. If someone is still simping over her while living in India, I don’t know what to say. Glad the government banned these people.”

Apart from Mahira and Hania, other Pakistani stars like Fawad Khan and Mawra Hocane also reportedly expressed disapproval of India’s military strike, further fueling the digital firestorm.

The controversy has reignited debate over cross-border artistic collaborations amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. As emotions run high, the prospect of Pakistani talent returning to Indian screens appears increasingly unlikely in the near future.
