March 19, 2025: The highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore is finally making its way back to the golf course after nearly 30 years. The makers dropped a teaser trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 on Instagram, sparking excitement among fans of the original movie.
In the teaser, Adam Sandler reprises his role as Happy Gilmore, the unlikely golf sensation who first made waves in the sport after transitioning from ice hockey. In the clip, Gilmore says, “I haven’t swung a club in years,” but he’s ready to return and take on some of the top stars in the world of golf. Virginia Venit, played by Julie Bowen, who was Gilmore’s love interest in the first movie, urges him, “We’re not done with golf. Let them see the Happy I fell in love with.”
The sequel promises plenty of star-studded cameos, including Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, musician Bad Bunny, rapper Eminem, and Ben Stiller, who may reprise his role as the quirky “Hal” from the original film. Golf fans will also get to see appearances from top players like Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, adding authenticity to the golf scenes in the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmakers behind Happy Gilmore 2 are determined to make the golf scenes feel as realistic as possible, a goal inspired by Sandler’s previous film Hustle, which focused on basketball. Chad Mumm, the founder of Pro Shop Studios, explained that the team worked closely with professional golfers to ensure the sport’s portrayal was genuine and to secure cameos from real-life players.
Happy Gilmore 2 is set to stream on Netflix starting July 25, 2025, and fans can’t wait to see Gilmore back in action, ready to bring his unique brand of humor and golf to the big screen once again.
