Harry Lawtey Opens Up About Leaving ‘Industry’ And His New Chapter In Acting

March 17, 2025: Actor Harry Lawtey, who gained recognition for his role in the hit drama series Industry, has opened up about his decision to depart from the show, citing both thematic and practical reasons for his exit. Lawtey, who played a key role as Robert in all three seasons of the series, revealed that scheduling conflicts and the natural evolution of his character played a significant part in his decision to leave before the show’s fourth season.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Lawtey explained that he felt his character had reached its natural conclusion. “Ultimately, I feel like I’m in a place where I’ve said everything I had to say with a character, and I think both me and the writers felt mutually happy with where we left him,” Lawtey shared. He further elaborated that his character’s transformation felt complete. “There was actually a stage direction after my final line, in my final scene of the show, which literally read: ‘On Robert – transformation complete.’ And that sat really well with me,” he said, reflecting on the final moments of his character in the series.

While Lawtey hasn’t kept up with watching the show, he feels content with how his storyline ended. His character, Robert, ended up moving to California after a turbulent chapter with his former flame, Yasmin (played by Marisa Abela). In the final moments of season three, Robert is seen thriving in a new career within Silicon Valley’s venture capitalist world, symbolizing his personal and professional transformation.

Looking ahead, Lawtey feels ready for new challenges and opportunities. “Now I feel unmoored, but in a really good way. And ready for the next chapter,” he said, signaling a fresh start in his acting career. His next project will see him starring in the upcoming film Billion Dollar Spy, where he will star alongside the legendary Russell Crowe. The film, based on the bestselling book by David E. Hoffman, is penned by Oscar-winning writer Stephen Gaghan and directed by BAFTA Award-winning Amma Asante. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to be a major highlight in Lawtey’s career.

As he moves on from Industry, Harry Lawtey is excited about the future and eager to embrace new roles and projects that will help him grow as an actor.
