“Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar – Sanjay Leela Bhansali Unveils Its Enchanting Teaser”

The much-awaited trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is out and is every bit as captivating as we had imagined.

Dropped by the makers on Tuesday, the three-minute-11-second-long trailer is set to a haunting score.

The trailer introduces us to Manisha Koirala as Mallikajaan, A woman of unwavering power, who runs the brothel with her “diamonds” aka her courtesans- played by Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh, all clad impeccable outfits set on larger-than-life sets and all the regalia linked to a Bhansali Production.

With them we traverse the dancing halls, dimly-lit chambers, angans and darbars of Heeramandi, the aptly named red light district.

The show is set in the backdrop of pre-independence India where the slogans of ‘Inquilab’ are starting to gain traction, even as plotting and intrigue rule the roost at the Kotha palace. But winds of change bring about changing attitudes as we see Bibbojaan (Aditi), one of Mallikajaan’s daughters, join the fight for freedom.
It is in this scenario that forbidden passions ignite and loyalties crumble.

As societal norms clash with the desires of these ladies, who will ultimately claim the crown and rule.
The series is slated to release on Netfilx on May-1.
