Hema Malini Breaks Silence on Relationship With Sunny and Bobby Deol, Says Watching Dharmendra’s Last Film ‘Ikkis’ Is Too Painful Right Now

Veteran actor and politician Hema Malini has finally addressed speculation surrounding her relationship with Dharmendra’s sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, following the legendary actor’s death on November 24. In a candid interview, Hema dismissed rumours of discord within the Deol family and spoke openly about grief, family bonds, and why she has not yet been able to watch Dharmendra’s final film, Ikkis.

After Dharmendra’s passing, social media was rife with conjecture about family tensions, particularly because separate prayer meetings were organised by different members of the family. While Sunny and Bobby Deol held a prayer meet, Hema Malini conducted a Gita Paath at her home the same day and later hosted another prayer gathering in Delhi with her daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol. These events led to unfounded assumptions about strained relations.

Setting the record straight, Hema told The Indian Express that her bond with Sunny and Bobby has always been warm and respectful. She said the relationship remains “very nice and cordial” even today, adding that gossip thrives because people seek sensational stories. Calling such speculation insensitive, especially during a period of mourning, she expressed sadness over how grief is sometimes used to fuel rumours.

Hema also addressed reports about a possible museum dedicated to Dharmendra, confirming that Sunny Deol is indeed planning something along those lines. She said the family remains in touch and consults each other on important matters, underlining that there is no rift as claimed by outsiders.

Speaking about Ikkis, Dharmendra’s last film, Hema admitted she has not yet watched it. The actor explained that the experience would be too emotionally overwhelming at this stage, as the loss is still fresh. She shared that even her daughters feel it might be better to wait until the pain eases a little before revisiting his work on screen.

Hema Malini’s words offered a rare, heartfelt glimpse into her personal life, emphasising unity, mutual respect, and the need for privacy while the family continues to heal from an irreplaceable loss.
