August 4, 2025: As the famous movie Sholay is ready to commemorate its 50th anniversary this Independence Day, actress Hema Malini has thought about how successful the movie was and how it will live on. In a recent interview, the veteran performer said she was surprised and happy that the movie is still relevant fifty years later.

“I feel good.” “We didn’t know the movie would be such a big hit when we started working on it,” she remarked. “And that after 50 years, you are going to ask me a question about it in Parliament.”

Ramesh Sippy directed Sholay, which has a renowned cast that includes Sanjeev Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Amjad Khan. The movie was very popular, and it ran in Mumbai’s Minerva theater for an amazing five years, which was a record that lasted for decades until it was broken by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
