Here's The Reason Why Aditya Chopra Refused To Offer Varun Dhawan An Action Film
October 15, 2024: Varun Dhawan recently opened up about his struggles, despite being a popular Bollywood actor and a star kid.
During the trailer launch of his action-packed web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun revealed that he once approached producer Aditya Chopra to cast him in an action film. However, Aditya turned him down, explaining that Varun was “not at that place” where he could be given such a large budget for an action project.
Varun recalled a specific conversation during the lockdown when he met Aditya Chopra and asked him to make an action film with younger talent. Aditya, who was working on Tiger 3 with Maneesh Sharma at the time, explained that Varun wasn’t yet in a position to handle the kind of budget required for a large-scale action film. Varun even asked Aditya about the actual budget, and Aditya provided a figure, making it clear that such projects demand substantial financial backing.
Expressing his gratitude for finally landing an action role in Citadel: Honey Bunny, Varun shared that he asked the makers, including directors Raj & DK and Amazon, about the budget as well, applying the knowledge he gained from his conversation with Aditya Chopra.
He expressed appreciation for the opportunity, which marks his debut in a web series alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 7.
