February 6, 2025: Actress Christina Ricci recently discussed her son Freddie’s curiosity about becoming a child actor, revealing her thoughts on whether she would support him following in her footsteps. Appearing on Today, Ricci shared that while Freddie, 10, has expressed interest in acting, she’s not keen on him entering the entertainment industry at such a young age.
Ricci, who shares Freddie with her ex-husband James Heerdegen and daughter Cleopatra, 3, with her current partner Mark Hampton, explained that Freddie enjoys visiting the set of Yellowjackets, where Ricci works, and often asks if he can become a child actor. “He has his own chair. And he’s been on set quite a lot,” Ricci said, adding that Freddie is often curious about acting. “Every time he’s on set, he asks me if he can be a child actor.”
However, Ricci made it clear that she doesn’t support her son entering the industry just yet. “Who’s going to take you because I have to work?” she said. “I can’t go with you.” Despite her reservations, Ricci acknowledged Freddie’s talent for acting, joking that he’s “very good at tricking me into things.”
In a sweet moment of reflection, Ricci also celebrated Freddie’s 10th birthday in August, posting a heartfelt Instagram tribute. “This absolutely gorgeous kid is 10 years old today. I love him more than I ever thought possible. Happy Birthday, Freddie,” she captioned a carousel of photos from his childhood.
Earlier this year, Ricci also shared a humorous post about chaperoning Freddie’s school field trip, describing the experience as “deafening” due to the noisy bus ride.
Ricci’s candid comments provide a glimpse into her life as a mother, balancing her career and family while navigating her children’s interests.
