‘Homebound’ Starring Janhvi Kapoor And Ishaan Khatter Selected for Cannes 2025

April 10, 2025: Neeraj Ghaywan’s much-anticipated film Homebound, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, has officially been selected for the prestigious 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The film will be screened in the coveted Un Certain Regard section, known for its focus on artistic and international cinema.

The announcement was made on Thursday, as Cannes revealed its official selection lineup, which also includes works from global auteurs like Wes Anderson and Ari Aster. For Ghaywan, this marks a special return to the festival, as his previous film Masaan was also featured in the same category and won multiple awards back in 2015.

Both Janhvi and Ishaan took to their Instagram accounts to express their joy and excitement over the news. Ishaan, sharing his thoughts with his followers, described the role as his “most challenging” yet, calling it a dream come true. “A film that I knew was special from the moment it entered my life… One of the proudest moments of my cinematic journey,” he wrote, also mentioning his return to work with Karan Johar and Dharma Productions after seven years.

Janhvi Kapoor also shared her excitement, stating that the team is “honored” to present Homebound at Cannes and can’t wait for the audience to see it on the big screen. “A moment where Indian cinema takes over the world,” she wrote, expressing her pride in the film’s selection.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Homebound is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. The film features a talented cast, including Vishal Jethwa alongside Kapoor and Khatter. The co-producers include Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier.

The 78th Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 13 to May 24, 2025, and Homebound will be one of the films to watch in the highly anticipated event.
