Housefull 5 Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar’s Comedy Storm Hits ₹54 Cr Mark!

June 8, 2025: The fifth installment of the blockbuster Housefull franchise is roaring at the box office. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and backed by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 stars a star-studded ensemble — Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Soundarya Sharma.

After a solid opening of ₹24 crore net in India on Friday, Day 2 (Saturday) witnessed even stronger numbers, with collections rising to ₹30 crore net, bringing the two-day domestic total to ₹54 crore. Globally, the film kicked off with ₹40 crore on its opening day and is expected to surge over the weekend. Chennai surprisingly emerged as a high-performing region, registering an impressive 52% occupancy for a Hindi-language comedy.

A major draw for audiences has been the film’s unique gimmick — two different endings! Titled Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B, the two alternate versions are showing in separate theatres. Director Mansukhani revealed the twist was inspired by an idea Sajid Nadiadwala had nearly 30 years ago. “That was one of the most exciting things for me as a director,” he said.

Despite the excitement and growing collections, the film has received mixed reviews from critics. News18 Showsha gave it 2.5 stars, criticizing its overcrowded musical sequences and stretched narrative. “If this is the standard of comedy we get from the Housefull franchise, then Nadiadwala has to step up and raise the bar in the next installment,” the review read.

As the film enters Sunday with strong momentum, the big question is: Can Housefull 5 break franchise records by the end of its first weekend?
