‘Housefull 5’ Crosses ₹111 Crore in 5 Days Despite Mixed Reviews, Fastest in Franchise to Hit Century Mark

‘Housefull 5’ is maintaining solid momentum at the box office despite a noticeable weekday slowdown. On day 5, the Akshay Kumar-led ensemble comedy collected ₹10.75 crore, bringing its total domestic haul to ₹111.25 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.com.
The film, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, marked the fastest entry into the ₹100 crore club among all previous Housefull installments. Despite a 60% drop from its opening weekend as seen in its Monday collection (₹13 crore), the film has retained steady audience interest thanks to a unique gimmick—two alternate endings.

The film was released in two versions—Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B—each with a different climax. In a promotional video, actors Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh urged fans to “watch it twice” to enjoy both endings, possibly boosting repeat viewership.
Set aboard a cruise ship, the comedy-mystery unfolds after a billionaire announces he’ll leave his fortune to a man named Jolly. But chaos erupts when a murder occurs and it’s revealed there are three Jollys onboard—played by Akshay, Riteish, and Abhishek Bachchan. Their girlfriends, each with suspicious motives, become part of the whodunit.
Alongside Akshay, Abhishek, and Riteish, the film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Soundarya Sharma, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Johnny Lever, Jackie Shroff, and others. The massive cast plays into the franchise’s trademark chaotic comedy style.
