Set aboard a cruise ship, the film revolves around the death of a billionaire, Ranjeet, who names “Jolly” as his heir. The twist? There are three men claiming to be Jolly—played by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan. When a doctor who knows the real Jolly is murdered, all three become suspects, along with their partners.

For the first two hours, the film plays out identically across both versions. However, in the final 20 minutes, Housefull 5A and 5B diverge dramatically, each revealing a different mastermind behind the murders.
Ending 1: Housefull 5A
In Housefull 5A, it is revealed that Dev (Fardeen Khan), Ranjeet’s estranged son, is the true mastermind. He partners with Abhishek Bachchan’s Jolly (Jalbhushan) to eliminate the doctor and secure his father’s £69 billion inheritance.
Ending 2: Housefull 5B
In Housefull 5B, the killer remains Abhishek’s Jolly, but the real brains behind the plan is Maya (Chitrangda Singh), the CFO of Ranjeet’s companies. Driven by gambling debts, she manipulates the situation so the inheritance lands with the board—ensuring she can funnel funds to repay her dues.
Why Two Endings?
Producers say the dual-ending format is a marketing gamble to generate buzz and repeat audience interest. Viewers who’ve seen one version are encouraged to return to theatres to experience the alternative climax—effectively doubling ticket sales potential. Distributors have ensured most multiplexes are showing both versions equally.
Is It Working?
Yes—at least so far. With over ₹50 crore earned in two days and solid footfall for both versions, Housefull 5 is on track to become a commercial hit. Its unique dual-ending strategy may well set a new precedent for big-ticket Bollywood comedies.
