How Did Kevin Jonas Lose Almost Everything After the Band Split?

July 9, 2025: Kevin Jonas is opening up about a personal financial crisis that followed the Jonas Brothers’ 2013 breakup — revealing he lost nearly all his money before the band reunited.

Appearing with brothers Nick and Joe Jonas on Lewis Howes’ “The School of Greatness” podcast on July 7, Kevin, 37, shared that after the band split, a series of bad business decisions and a failed partnership led him to lose nearly everything.

“I’ve seen the rise to financial success — and then losing almost all of it,” Kevin admitted. When host Lewis Howes asked if he meant really all of it, Kevin confirmed: “Yeah, most of it, like, down to the one 10 percent left.”

The financial downfall happened about nine years ago, Kevin explained, when he invested heavily in real estate and business ventures — one of which turned out to be a bad partnership. Though he declined to name names or go into specifics, he noted, “I learned a lot of lessons.”

Fortunately, a major turning point came with the Jonas Brothers’ comeback in 2019. “Thankfully, we got a second shot with the band coming back together,” he said. “It was kind of fortuitous in a way.”

Kevin Jonas said the experience reshaped how he views the music business and money in general. During the band’s hiatus, he launched several ventures, including The Blu Market (a social media influencer agency), the Yood restaurant-finding app, and partnerships in the tech space like We Heart It.

The brothers reunited in 2019, announcing their comeback on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Their return included the hit album Happiness Begins and a revealing Amazon Prime documentary, Chasing Happiness, which Kevin described as a form of therapy.

“It was great because we had to have real conversations and not hold back,” he said. “So for us, it worked out in a good way.”
