Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR Thank Fans as ‘War 2’ Sets Box Office on Fire

The latest YRF Spy Universe actioner has crossed the ₹100 crore mark in just two days, prompting a heartfelt response from its lead stars, who praised the audience for their support.

August 16, 2025: Ayan Mukerji’s action spectacle War 2, starring Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and Telugu sensation Jr NTR, has proven to be a major box office force, crossing the monumental ₹100 crore mark within its first two days in theaters. The film, which is the latest chapter in the YRF Spy Universe, has been met with roaring success, leading its lead actors to share special messages of gratitude with their fans.

Released on August 14, the high-octane thriller capitalized on the Independence Day weekend, showing a significant jump in collections on its second day. According to trade reports, War 2 added a massive ₹56.35 crore on Friday, bringing its total India net collection to ₹109.35 crore in just 48 hours. By its third day, the film had already surpassed the ₹113 crore milestone, cementing its position as a blockbuster.

On Saturday, both actors took to social media to react to the overwhelming public support. Hrithik Roshan, who returns as the iconic agent Kabir Dhaliwal, shared a still from the film and wrote, “In Kabir’s world, battles may be won… but the war goes on. A character that came to life in 2019, has only fueled my fire as an Actor & Entertainer. Witnessing all your cheers & celebrations in cinema halls, only makes Kabir taller and my heart fuller.”

Jr NTR, making his much-anticipated Bollywood debut as elite agent Vikram, also posted a heartfelt message. “I am seeing your love for #War2 and I love you back for it… Incredible to see the public support for our film which we made with a lot of passion. Let’s goooo!” he wrote.

The film, which also stars Kiara Advani, continues the saga of the YRF Spy Universe and has been noted for its globe-trotting stunts and the electric face-off between its two leads. With a massive budget of ₹400 crore, War 2 is poised to be one of the biggest hits of the year. The film has also generated immense buzz for its post-credits scene, which sets up the next installment in the cinematic universe, titled Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Bobby Deol.
