Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has weighed in on the intensifying debate surrounding visual effects in Indian cinema, specifically addressing the mixed reactions to the recently released Ramayana teaser.

In a comprehensive note shared on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the actor urged audiences to “debate with awareness” and cautioned against judging a film’s technical merit based solely on a brief glimpse. Admiting that while “painfully bad” VFX does exist, Hrithik defended the vision of filmmakers like Nitesh Tiwari, comparing VFX choices to artistic styles in animation or anime.

Reflecting on his own childhood obsession with Back to the Future, Hrithik praised the “noble” intent of creators behind VFX-heavy projects like Kalki 2898 AD, Baahubali, and the upcoming Ramayana. He emphasized that thousands of Indian artists work for years to bring these visions to life, suggesting that what some label as “bad VFX” might simply be a specific aesthetic choice intended for the story. “Wait till you watch the entire movie before you judge,” he replied to a fan on Instagram, while also playfully admitting that the release of unfinished VFX remains a “mystery” even to him.

The Ramayana project, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, is currently one of the most scrutinized films in production. With a legendary musical collaboration between Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, the first part of the trilogy is officially slated for a worldwide release in October 2026, just ahead of Diwali. Hrithik’s defense comes at a crucial time as fans continue to dissect every frame of the “Rama Unit” teaser, which has already been praised by industry peers like Alia Bhatt.

While Hrithik advocates for cinematic patience, the current media landscape remains flooded with high-velocity updates. From Prabhas’ team issuing warnings over Fauzi leaks to Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 rewriting box office history with a ₹990 crore haul, the first week of April 2026 has been a landmark period for Indian entertainment. On a personal note, Hrithik also shared that he has been supporting partner Saba Azad during her recent hospitalization due to a Cyclospora infection, proving that even “superheroes” are keeping their spirits up amidst real-world challenges.
