“I Just Believe We Live on a Flat Plane”: Wiz Khalifa Sparks Debate Over Earth’s Shape

April 26, 2025: Rapper Wiz Khalifa sparked buzz online after sharing his unconventional views on Earth’s shape and space exploration during a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast. Despite centuries of scientific consensus confirming that Earth is round, Khalifa told listeners he doesn’t fully buy it.

When asked directly whether he believes the Earth is round, the “Black and Yellow” rapper replied simply: “No.” He elaborated, saying, “I just believe that we live on a flat plane, like a huge flat plane,” according to People.

Khalifa based his beliefs on personal travel experiences, claiming that the way flight paths operate suggests a lack of vertical navigation. “When I travel, the routes that we take and how we do it, it’s not possible to go up and down. You’re just going straight. That’s the only reason I think that,” he said.

Academic and guest host Marc Lamont Hill challenged his reasoning by asking whether Khalifa had ever traveled to the edge of this supposed flat Earth. Khalifa quickly clarified that he didn’t believe there was a literal edge, but instead proposed the idea that more land might exist beyond what is currently known. “I think that there’s more masses than just what we see because it was one thing before and it spread out,” he said, referencing the ancient supercontinent Pangaea.

Khalifa also voiced skepticism about space exploration altogether. “I don’t believe in space exploration at all. I don’t believe that they explore space as much as they say that they do,” he stated.

Ironically, despite his views, the cover of his newly released album Kush + Orange Juice 2—a sequel to his popular 2010 mixtape—features a round image of Earth, as noted by People.

While Khalifa’s opinions raised eyebrows, they also fueled discussion about celebrity influence and the line between personal beliefs and scientific fact. Whether trolling or being sincere, Khalifa’s flat Earth musings are making waves—if not in the scientific community, then certainly across social media.
