‘I Never Regret the Past’: Mohammed Shami Breaks Silence On Marriage With Hasin Jahan

Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami addresses the persistent controversy surrounding his personal life and estranged wife, Hasin Jahan. The pacer states he’s focusing on his career and not dwelling on the past, as he makes his return to the field.

August 29, 2025: Star Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami is once again in the public eye because of his personal life, but he has made it clear that he has no regrets and is moving on. In a recent interview, the 34-year-old talked about the ongoing legal and personal problems he has with his former wife, Hasin Jahan. Since they split up in 2018, she has brought a number of claims against him.

Jahan has always used social media and interviews to say that Shami has been physically and mentally abusive. Recently, she said that the cricketer is a “womanizer” who spends money on his girlfriends’ kids while ignoring his own daughter, Ayra.

When questioned Shami if he felt bad about his marriage, he offered a firm answer. “Don’t worry about that. I never feel bad about the past. What has passed is gone. I don’t want to point fingers at anyone, including myself. I want to pay attention to my cricket. I don’t want these problems.

He also didn’t want to talk about how he was similar to other cricketers who had recently divorced, including Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahal. He said, “That’s your (the media’s) job to find out. Why do you wish to kill us by hanging us? Also, look at the other side. “Not controversies, but cricket.”

There have also been new developments in the court dispute. The Calcutta High Court told Shami in July 2025 that he had to pay Hasin Jahan and their daughter ₹4 lakh a month in alimony, which was a big increase from what the court had said before.

Shami is getting back into competitive cricket on the professional side of things. He played for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru, which was his first game back after more than three months off. The bowler hasn’t played since May 2, when he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He wasn’t picked for the forthcoming Asia Cup and missed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test series in England earlier this year. He last played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier in 2025, when he was a major member of the team that won the tournament.
