"I Refuse to Let the Past Rob Me of My Future" – Amaal Mallik Opens Up on Family Rift and Depression
Renowned Bollywood music composer Amaal Mallik stunned fans and the industry with a deeply personal and emotional revelation on Thursday. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Amaal opened up about his battle with clinical depression, the emotional turmoil caused by his family, and the growing distance with his brother Armaan Malik.
📢 “I have spent my blood, sweat, and tears to create each of the 126 melodies that have released over the last decade. Yet, despite my efforts, I have been spoken down to, belittled, and made to question my worth. Today, I am clinically depressed because of these happenings,” he shared.
Amaal, known for chartbusters like ‘Jab Tak’, ‘Kar Gayi Chull’, and ‘Bol Do Na Zara’, also expressed resentment over his parents’ role in creating a rift between him and his younger brother, singer Armaan Malik.
💬 “The journey has been terrific for both of us, but the actions of my parents have been the reason we, as brothers, have gone too far from one another. This has left a deep scar on my heart.”
In the same post, Amaal declared his decision to cut personal ties with his family, stating that any further interactions would be strictly professional.
📢 “For years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being—belittling my friendships, relationships, my mindset, and my self-confidence. I refuse to let the past rob me of my future any longer. From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional.”
