“I Was Pregnant When He Cheated”: Seema Kapoor Recalls Painful Chapter With Om Puri

Seema, also the sister of actor Annu Kapoor, opened up about Om Puri’s affair with Nandita Puri — a relationship that began while he was filming City of Joy. The revelation came at the worst possible time for Seema: she was three months pregnant and still holding on to hopes of salvaging their marriage.

“I never wanted to divorce him, despite the affair. I was pregnant. I wanted to mend things.”

📩 Discovery and Emotional Collapse
Seema recounted discovering love letters while Om was away for a shoot. Despite friends in the industry being aware of the affair, they brushed it off as “just a phase.” What followed was a slow unraveling — fueled by Om’s drinking and Nandita’s repeated interference, including calls made to him in Seema’s presence.

“One night, it got too much. I left — while I was still pregnant,” she said.

💔 Loss and Self-Respect
Tragically, Seema lost the child soon after. Om Puri later sent ₹25,000 through his secretary, which she refused, asserting,

“What he thought was ego was just self-respect.”

⚖️ Legal Fallout and Emotional Trauma
While her brother Annu Kapoor considered legal action, Seema settled with ₹6 lakh in alimony. But the emotional wounds ran deeper than any court ruling.

📞 A Call Before Goodbye
Years later, shortly before his death in 2017, Om Puri made a final gesture: a phone call to apologize for the pain he had caused.

Om went on to marry Nandita Puri in 1993. The couple had a son, Ishaan, but also faced their own public issues before Om Puri’s passing.
