IIFA 2025 to Celebrate 50 Years of ‘Sholay’ with a Special Screening at Jaipur’s Iconic Raj Mandir

“Sholay is More Than a Film—It’s an Emotion, a Timeless Masterpiece”

Jaipur, March 4: The 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) is set to make history by honoring Ramesh Sippy’s legendary film ‘Sholay’ on its 50th anniversary. To mark this golden milestone, IIFA 2025 will host an exclusive screening of the cult classic at Jaipur’s historic Raj Mandir Cinema, a venue as iconic as the film itself.

A Nostalgic Tribute to a Cinematic Masterpiece

IIFA, which celebrates the best of Indian cinema on a global stage, is making its Silver Jubilee edition even more special by paying tribute to a film that defined Bollywood’s legacy.

Andre Timmins, Co-Founder of IIFA, expressed his excitement, saying:

“IIFA 2025 is not just a celebration—it’s a journey through time, honoring 50 years of ‘Sholay’ at Jaipur’s iconic Raj Mandir. ‘Sholay’ is more than a film—it’s an emotion, a timeless masterpiece that continues to inspire storytellers and audiences alike. What better place to honor its legacy than Raj Mandir, a theater that has been a historical sanctuary for movie lovers for five decades?”

Timmins further added that this tribute is a celebration of Indian cinema’s storytelling magic, bringing together film lovers in a grand homage to one of Bollywood’s greatest films.

‘Sholay’: A Story That Stands the Test of Time

Released in 1975, Sholay became one of the greatest Bollywood films of all time, blending action, drama, romance, and unforgettable dialogues. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, the film follows the story of two small-time criminals, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra), recruited by retired police officer Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) to capture the ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan). The film’s gripping narrative, iconic characters, and timeless music have left an everlasting impact on generations of cinema lovers.

The film also starred Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, and Amjad Khan, whose villainous portrayal of Gabbar Singh remains legendary.

IIFA 2025: A Grand Celebration of Cinema

IIFA 2025 is scheduled to take place in Jaipur from March 8 to March 9, bringing together Bollywood’s biggest stars, filmmakers, and industry legends. The event promises to be a historic celebration, uniting film enthusiasts to relive the magic of ‘Sholay’ in one of India’s most revered theaters.

This special screening will not only honor the film’s cinematic brilliance but also showcase the cultural and emotional impact it continues to have, even after five decades.
