Indian Box Office Rakes in ₹1,245 Cr in February; Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava Leads with ₹650 Cr

The Indian film industry continues its box office resurgence in February 2025, registering a strong ₹1,245 crore gross at the domestic box office. According to Ormax Media’s India Box Office Report, this momentum was largely driven by Vicky Kaushal’s period drama Chhaava, which alone contributed a staggering 53% of the month’s earnings, collecting over ₹650 crore.

The success of Chhaava—a biopic on Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj—has propelled it into the list of highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. The Laxman Utekar directorial, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, was released on February 14, 2025.

With these figures, the cumulative box office collections for 2025 now stand at ₹2,264 crore, marking a 39% growth compared to the same period in 2024.

Apart from Chhaava, Tamil cinema’s breakout hit Dragon secured the second spot, surpassing even the much-anticipated Tamil big-budget film Vidaamuyarchi.
