In an exclusive chat with SCREEN, the 24-year-old singer shared her emotional journey and her future in the music industry. “My family was there during the finale, crying and cheering for me. Honestly, I was blank at first and didn’t know how to react. But it’s a dream come true,” said Manasi.
Bollywood Debut Already Locked In
The Indian Idol 15 champion confirmed, “My Bollywood debut is a duet with Lalit Pandit and Shaan sir. It’s already recorded for an upcoming film.” She also hinted at another musical project with Badshah, her idol and one of the show’s judges.
Where The Prize Money Goes
Manasi plans to invest part of her winnings into creating independent music, and use the car for daily travel. “I really want to focus on music that’s mine, something that represents me.”
Judges That Left a Mark
Reflecting on the judging panel of Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Badshah, Manasi shared, “Shreya Mam gave thoughtful, detailed feedback which I loved. But Vishal Sir was brutally honest, and his standing ovations meant the world to me. He never sugarcoated anything.”
Take On Indian vs Western Music
On the Western influence on Indian music, Manasi had a balanced view. “It’s not bad. We still love and respect our legends like Lata Mangeshkar and Bhimsen Joshi, but we also enjoy Doja Cat and Beyoncé. It’s great to see Indian classical and rap gaining global recognition.”
Advice for Aspiring Singers
To budding talents, her message is clear: “Don’t wait around for playback opportunities. Go to a guru, learn properly, and start creating your own music. Support yourself, build your own identity, and everything else will follow.”
With a trophy in her hand, a hit song on the way, and a promising career ahead, Manasi Ghosh is clearly a name to watch in the Indian music industry.
