Singer-actor’s sudden demise shocks fans; Amit Paul pays emotional tribute

January 11, 2026: Singer and actor Prashant Tamang passed away at the age of 43 after suffering a heart attack at his residence in New Delhi, leaving the entertainment industry in shock. Best known for winning Indian Idol Season 3, Tamang rose from Darjeeling to national fame with a historic victory, securing a record-breaking margin of votes in the grand finale.

His Indian Idol co-contestant and close friend Amit Paul paid a heartfelt tribute on social media, sharing an emotional note recalling their bond and expressing disbelief over the loss. Tamang’s win on the show was unprecedented, as he received over 700 lakh votes—nearly ten times more than the runner-up—cementing his place as one of the most memorable winners in the show’s history.

After his musical breakthrough, Tamang built a successful career in Nepali cinema as a singer and actor, featuring in popular films like Gorkha Paltan and Nishani. He also made his mark in Hindi entertainment with a key role in Amazon Prime Video’s Pataal Lok Season 2 and was last seen in the upcoming film Battle of Galwan. From reality TV stardom to becoming a cross-border cultural icon, Prashant Tamang’s journey remains deeply influential and unforgettable.
