February 10, 2025: A formal complaint has been lodged against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the organizers of the show India’s Got Latent following a series of allegedly offensive and derogatory comments made during a YouTube episode of the show.

The complaint, filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accuses the accused of using abusive language, including inappropriate jokes about women’s private parts, with the intention of gaining popularity and financial gain from the controversy. The remarks, made in a joking context, sparked widespread outrage, particularly due to the inappropriate nature of the comments, which were aired globally on YouTube.

The complainant highlighted that such comments were made with no regard for the harm caused to women’s dignity and the negative influence it could have on young audiences, particularly minors. The complaint further calls for immediate legal action and criminal charges under the Indian Penal Code, urging for an FIR to be filed against those responsible for the incident.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the issue, stating that although freedom of speech is fundamental, it should not encroach upon the rights of others, and action should be taken if the rules are violated. Former NCW Chief Rekha Sharma also condemned the remarks, describing them as morally damaging and harmful to society, especially the youth.
