The trailer for the upcoming Netflix film reveals Manoj Bajpayee as a legendary cop whose story is inspired by the hunt for the notorious ‘Bikini Killer.’ It features a gripping cat-and-mouse chase between the street-smart officer and the menacing criminal, played by Jim Sarbh.
August 25, 2025: The official trailer for Inspector Zende, Netflix’s newest criminal thriller, is now out. The movie is based on the amazing true story of Inspector Madhukar Zende, a famous police officer in Mumbai. The movie is about Manoj Bajpayee’s never-ending search for the “Swimsuit Killer” at a time before modern technology and forensics.

The trailer sets up a tense but funny game of cat and mouse. Bajpayee plays Zende, a street-smart cop who trusts his intuition and is recognized for his distinctive style of jugaad (resourcefulness). Carl Bhojraj is a lovely but dangerous serial killer that his character has to deal with. This character is based on the well-known Charles Sobhraj, and Jim Sarbh does a terrific job at playing him.
The movie, directed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar, is largely about Zende’s most famous case: finding the killer twice. The crew goes from the busy streets of Mumbai to the picturesque beaches of Goa for the pursuit, which is very important. The teaser also shows off the amazing supporting cast, which includes Sachin Khedekar, Bhalchandra Kadam, Girija Oak, and Vaibhav Mangale. Their funny back-and-forth makes the wild chase seem less wild.
Manoj Bajpayee said in a statement that he was really interested in the real-life inspector. He remarked, “What I thought was interesting about Inspector Zende was that he wasn’t looking for fame; he was just doing his job and caught one of the most wanted criminals twice.” The actor went on to say that he feels the movie would give the real-life hero the attention he deserves.
Netflix will start broadcasting Inspector Zende in every countries on September 5, 2025.
