June 2, 2025: As the excitement builds for the IPL 2025 final between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli took a moment to reflect on the emotional weight both teams carry into the big game.
On Monday, Rajamouli posted on X (formerly Twitter) a powerful image of PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer and RCB legend Virat Kohli shaking hands—an image that instantly resonated with fans.

In his emotional caption, Rajamouli praised Iyer’s resilience and Kohli’s unwavering brilliance. He highlighted how Iyer, after leading Delhi Capitals to a final, was dropped—only to later guide Kolkata Knight Riders to a title, and once again be dropped. Now, he has led Punjab to their first IPL final in 11 years.
“He deserves this year’s trophy too,” wrote Rajamouli.
Turning to Kohli, he acknowledged the star batter’s relentless consistency over the years: “He is performing year after year… compiling thousands of runs. The final frontier for him… He deserves it too.”
He ended the message with a poignant thought: “Whatever the result… it’s going to be a heartbreak.”
